Ercoli Trastevere
About This Spot
Nestled in the heart of Trastevere, Ercoli Trastevere unfolds like a quiet invitation to savor moments that feel both familiar and inspired. From the outside, its modest entrance hints at something thoughtful tucked within, where the old-world charm of Rome meets a surprisingly contemporary pulse inside. Stepping through, you find yourself welcomed into a space where time slows just enough to enjoy the cascade of flavors, the warm glow of attentive hospitality, and the lively yet intimate hum of a neighborhood gathering place.
The atmosphere strikes a balance between relaxed and refined, offering a versatile sanctuary whether you’re dropping in for a careful espresso, an elegant glass of wine, or a slow evening shared around a table groaning with seasonal delights. Conversations flow easily here—whether it’s friends reuniting, couples discovering local treasures, or solo wanderers absorbing the buzz from the bar, where a knowledgeable sommelier is quietly curating wines that feel perfectly paired to your moment.
There’s a clear devotion to the authentic pleasures of Italian cuisine, but it’s never showy. The menu feels like an evolving conversation with the season—from beautifully composed charcuterie boards that marry meats and cheeses with fresh fruit, to pasta dishes that carry the familiar heartiness of Roman tradition, and surprising takes on classics that invite a fresh lens. Breakfast reveals another layer of delight, where simple Italian pastries and carefully pulled coffee set the tone for the day ahead.
What lingers most is the feeling that Ercoli Trastevere is attuned to its neighborhood and to its guests, striking a rare note of warmth and generosity. Staff move with genuine attentiveness, balancing professionalism with a human touch, making everyone—from families with little ones to late-night wanderers—feel comfortably at home. It’s not just a restaurant or bar; it is a local embrace that invites you to slow down, explore thoughtfully, and find small discoveries between bites and sips.

Incredible night at this local favorite. Able to accommodate a large group or drop ins at the bar. The exterior is old world and the interior is stunning and modern. Coffee bar, drinks bar, meats, cheeses and dinner. Great breads too. Staff was courteous and attentive. Recommended.

Don’t be fooled by the simple entrance to this place. It is a wine bar, coffee, bar, bakery, food, theater, restaurant,… The food is amazing from simple pastries, to whole Parma ham. Is anything and everything you’d want in Italy. We had a charcuterie platter that was simply close to perfection. And we had an amazing drink that was a little different than the customary Aperol drink. Made instead with Select versus Campari. I highly recommend you check out this place if in Roma!!

Such a breakfast gem! Simple but delicious, really satisfying, and a great start to the day. Excellent value for the price.

Amazing experience! Truffle Mortadella, Foie Gras, and other meats wow! Super knowledgeable sommelier Sebastian, that showed us great wines without being pushy. Highly recommend!

My husband and I, and our 3 month old daughter were wandering the streets of Trastevere looking for a bite to eat and happened upon Ercoli Trastevere. We walked in to a beautiful butchery counter and a welcoming staff, who gladly accommodated our infant daughter and early for Rome dinner needs. They sat us in a nice open room with a comfortable banquet and we quickly recognized that most of the other diners were either locals, or on a food tour. We ordered the beet hummus, rigatoni all’amatriciana, and the filet with roasted potatoes, all of which were cooked perfectly. One of the best all’amatriciana I have ever had. Tiramisu was to die for. Will definitely be back on one of our next trips!

If you’re in Trastevere and looking for a great place to eat, Ercoli is a hidden gem you don’t want to miss. Whether you’re in the mood for a delicious sandwich, a sweet treat, or a full meal, this place has something for everyone. The sandwiches are fresh, flavorful, and packed with high-quality ingredients—perfect for a quick but satisfying bite. Take the sandwich guy recomendations! Their selection of pastries and desserts making it a great stop if you have a sweet tooth. And if you’re staying for lunch or dinner, you’re in for a treat—every dish is beautifully prepared and full of authentic flavors. Ercoli is the kind of place you’ll want to come back to again and again. Highly recommended! Sorry, no pictures we ate everything so fast enjoying the coffee

A very good place to stop by for breakfast. We were walking all morning all over the Rome and finally got hungry and coffee deprived. We found this place and really enjoyed it. Freshly baked croissants, cappuccino and freshly squeezed orange juice - what could be better?! This place is beautiful and cozy inside, with a huge selection of wines, cheeses, meat, canned goods and more. Staff members were very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend to visit this place!

Was looking for a local place to lunch, not tourist one. We picked daily menu offer + extras to taste. Was too hungry to take pictures at the beggining, so not much of the plating. Salats were amazing, octopus, zukini, beet root, all rich in flavours. Main was slightly chill, could be reheated but also delicious. Simple atmosphere and friendly hosts. Would definitely come back to try other dishes.
